Full Time General Laborer! 

Are you a go-getter that is ready to work as part of a team? We are currently looking for a full time General Laborer. This person will help support the primary bindery machine operator. They will work as part of a bindery team to assemble and finish magazines, catalogs, and booklets using an automated saddle stitching machine. This role provides hands-on experience and is a stepping stone to becoming a skilled operator. 

Key responsibilities: 
  • Machine feeding:
    • Load pre-printed materials, called signatures, into the machine's feeders.
    • Keep the machine supplied with fresh signatures, covers, and stitching wire.
    • Clear paper jams and other simple blockages during production runs.
  • Offloading and stacking:
    • Offload finished, stitched, and trimmed products from the delivery end of the machine.
    • Stack and organize finished booklets onto pallets or into boxes according to job ticket specifications.
    • Operate stacking or stretch-wrapping equipment as needed for packaging.
  • Quality control:
    • Monitor the finished product for defects, such as imperfect stitching, ink spots, or torn pages.
    • Notify the machine operator of any quality issues that may arise.
  • Maintenance and support:
    • Clean the machine and the work area, removing paper dust and other debris.
    • Perform other general bindery duties as needed, such as manual handwork or assisting on other equipment.
  • Safety and procedure:
    • Follow all company safety rules and regulations.
    • Assist the operator in ensuring the machine runs efficiently and safely.
 Required skills and qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous bindery experience is often preferred but not always required, as this is an entry-level position.
  • Mechanical aptitude: The ability to learn and understand how bindery equipment functions.
  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for quality control to spot defects in the finished product.
  • Physical stamina: The ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials (up to 35 pounds) repeatedly throughout a shift.
  • Communication: Good communication skills to take direction from the operator and other team members.
  • Reliability: A consistent attendance record and a willingness to work as part of a production team.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is typically required. 
Must be a team player! 
Must be able to pass a background check. 
Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm with weekends as needed. 
Pay is based on experience $14 - $16 an hour
